If an aparment costs 70 lakhs and that is renting for 15 thousand, how does it make sense to invest in it? The return on 70 lakhs at 12%(or 10%) is 7 lakhs/year. That is approx. 60 thousand per month. If you buy an apartment and rent it, it gives you 15 thousand. Don't you see the problem? The return on investment is low, very low. The fact that it is renting only for 15 thousand tells us that it is not affordable for most of the average guys in the city. The theory that there are more demand to snap up 70 lakh, 1 crore apartments is simply not true.

so let me understand it, you are saying that you don't agree with something that's why it has got to be wrong. Its not wrong because it is wrong, but its wrong because you don't support it. I am still debating whether to call in or to write - but I will definitely do one of the two. I just read the other thread linked to by 'internet' above & thought I would say a couple of things to the losers at alipac who worship racists like tancredo and lou: Don't distort this thread's message - we not are trying to gag Mr.Lou however much I puke everytime I see him spewing venow on 'aliens' -and I sometimes even admire his constant state of outrage and complete lack of shame. These firms literally depend on itellectual labour from across the world for their revenues.
If you might notice that all these Senators who are coming up with these brilliant ideas are either from some god forsaken place in the US where there is nothing except a WalMart and a Church or the Senator doesnt know his economics right and is using VOTE BANK POLITICS parallel that to the recent Mayawati being elected in UP & AB & AMbani getting hit in scams and SEZs.
But the BIG BULLS in CA & NY wont let these senators have it their way as they would loose their $$..so let them speak their heart out ..when it comes to money these senators will loose their deposits ...& REMEMBER THE WORLD IS FLAT. Leadership or Money is not issue for getting results. Why there is so much oppositon to H1b and GC increase? There is a fear in certain american people that they may lose job to the low wage H1b people. Is anyone either corportions or Pro-immigrants trying to remove the fear? Is skill bill has any protection to american workers? We want to increase to h1b or gc without botherng the impact. Now USA really need more h1bs and gcs. But are we suggesting anything when job growth stops or recession happens? Rememember so many people were laid off between 2000 to 2003 including H1b people and Americans but that time also most of 195k h1b was used. I knew lot of people

People who are waiting for 7-8 years now would have had already spent average $15,000-$20,000, in maintaining their statuses and keep the Green Card process going on. Being stuck in a green card process keeps us bonded with 1 employer, job type etc.
We need to know if there is any light at the end of the tunnel. We need to know for how long we have to live our life in limbo. If there is hope than we need to be patient and plan to live like that for another 1-2 years. But if there�s no light at the end of the tunnel than we need to move on with our careers and other family commitments. Only your office and USCIS can help us by releasing statistics on the number and categories of applications pending with USCIS people waiting in this category can plan their lives accordingly.
It will be a great help if DOS or USCIS could tell us about the number of AOS application pending at USCIS along with their Categories(EB-3, EB-2, EB-1) and chargeable country.
We have been waiting for a decade and continue to wait would it be reasonable to request you for some guidance with regards to the Visa allotment. I request your office to provide some statistics on home many Adjustment of Status applications are pending at USCIS.

For all of you who have send me a pvt. message asking me how to reach IO @ TSC, here are the steps:
1) Call Customer Service @ 1 800 375 5283
2) Continue in english, hit 1
3) To check the status, hit 2
4) Know your receipt number, hit 1
5) Enter Receipt number, and then for SRC, hit 1
6) Confirm Receipt Number, hit 1
7) You will now hear the status of your case. At this point, hit 3 to "Report a problem".
Here is the trick - now you will hear 4 options. I believe # 3 is "If your case is outside the processing time..." and # 4 is for "If you have filed several cases and have received a decision on....". You want to hit # 4 and you will be connected to an IO at TSC.
Just a word of caution: You will be talking to an Immigration Officer @ TSC so please be very polite. Some officers will tell you that they cannot give you any information, or you should be calling Customer Service number, simply say 'Thank You' and hang up. It might take days/weeks before you reach an IO who would be willing to help.
Again, the sequence is:
Call the customer service number.
Press 1, 2, 1, Enter Receipt Number, Hit 1 for SRC, Hit 1 to confirm RN, 3 to report a problem, 4 to connect to an officer @ TSC.
Also, you do not have to wait to hear the complete message. You can be connected to an IO in less than 30 seconds (trust me, you will get good at it). I had the print out of steps sitting in my car and I would go to my car every 2 hours and call TSC. Keep a log of when you called and who the officer was (if the officer tells you their name, note it down cuz next time you can simply hang up if the same officer is on the line).

If you heard what the restrictionist lawmakers have said about what to do with illegal�s, this retrogression makes sense. The restrictionists want to make life miserable for illegal�s by making it difficult for them to get jobs, this way the illegal�s would go back on there own.
They are trying to do the same thing with us legal�s (without saying it aloud). If you are from India it will take you at least 6 to 8 years (if you are lucky) to get a green card. Frankly in the fast changing technologically advanced world how many people can hold on to the same job for 8 years straight, they cannot. People lose jobs because they are laid of, the company has run into bad times, the technology has changed and the company wants to move you to a different role or position etc, this way a lot of people have to switch jobs which invalidates thete green card process. They are making your life miserable so that you are broken down psychologically and finally will go away either on your own or because of some arcane rule, example the labor should be applied more than one year before h1 expiration etc, a living example is that Indian guy who posted recently that he is leaving US to work for Microsoft in Canada. This way they get the best of both worlds, you have young people in the prime of there life without any diseases who do not burden there medicare system, working hard and paying social security taxes and medicare taxes (which they will not get back) and in the end they are kicked out or go away on there own.
You got it right or what!!! That sounds like the modern definition of slavery and seems to be what is happening in US despite all the claims of abolishment of slavery. They just have refined it to a point where it is subtle and not so blatant.

My lawyer sent me the fedex tracking sheet for the I-485 package sent to:

Lincoln, NE 68508
I did not see any PO Box on the Fedex tracking sheet. I am not sure if she put the PO Box on the shipping label or not??
Is it a big deal?? Will my application be accepted.

My belief is that use of PO Box on physical address helps to get documents re-directed to their correct department. Absence of same means that the personnel in charge have to "think" where to re-direct and nothing more than that. Again this is based on what I know from reliable friends.

-- Involved in a collision few months back. As I had rear ended the vehicle, as per the investigation, it was found it was my fault(80% mine - 20% others)
-- Now after more than 18 months, I get a law suit for 3.25 million dollars(. This was served against ppl who were involved. Right now my I have my EAD and AP and maintaining H1 status.
So what are my options now?
1. Check with attorney and start defending..?
2. pack the bags and go back to my country ? If so, will there be any issues in coming back again, say after 3,4 years?
3. What about my GC?
Any help would be greatly appreciated and I guess it would be a biggest decision of my life ..

In any case, you must defend yourself. If you just run away, then you might find yourself in 3 million dollar debt and all your assets frozen, even in India (assuming you are not planning to live the life of a fugitive!).

In any case, you must defend yourself. If you just run away, then you might find yourself in 3 million dollar debt and all your assets frozen, even in India (assuming you are not planning to live the life of a fugitive!).

I think canadian IT jobs will accept US IT experience. However, getting a job there is harder because the industry is small but then again you don't have to be in IT. You are free to start a business there. I know ppl who have come from India to canada and have started insurance business etc. Like moving to any other place, its going to be a fresh-start if you choose to go to canada/Aus/India/etc.
One of my friends who is in Canada for a few years now tells me that the Canadian companies do recognize US experience. Another friend recently finished his MBA from the US ( after he went through the whole MS, job at a top company, GC process where labor got rejected after 4 years nonsense). He moved to Canada with a job offer, so it is much easier for him. Just don't go there and think you will find something. Make sure you have a job offer and only then go there.
