12 petabytes? That doesn't seem like too much, actually. that's 1GB of storage for 12 million customersI think it is being used to hold media content, not for cloud backup type purposes for individual customers Exactly dukebound85. You only need one copy of a song or movie to store or stream, not one for each customer. Digital, remember?

Got mine through this morning from the AppleStore. Its absolutely wicked! Very, very diddy and comes with this cool little docking station to charge it and interface with my Mac. Looking forward to a trip to the gym tonight... ;)
Got mine this morning as well, and also extremely looking forward to using this in the gym instead of my video iPod. :)

No critiques or comments on how it's done (seems ok to me).
I did have one question (why?) but I answered that while I was typing my post: I guess it's a nice clean way to get a countdown list, with content separate from list number

Simple solution: Financial Times should put out a browser version of the publication that is optimized for viewing on an iPad and simply require the same login that is does now for its web version.
I don't pay extra for the iPad version of nytimes.com on my iPad, so I use the web version instead (and it's not even optimized for iPad the way the mobile version is optimized for iPhone). I don't get the benefit of the snazzier iPad app, but I'm also not paying for it.
Apple created the iOS platform and allows third parties to develop apps for it as long as you play by Apple's rules. If you don't like Apple's rules, optimize your product to run as a web page for iPhone/iPad or just rely on the web version you have now.
Frankly, I wish more publications would do that: I would be fine to read web-based, iPad-optized versions of the New Yorker, New York Times, Newsweek, etc., if the subscription prices are cheaper than an iPad version and it means the publisher actually makes a web-based subscription available, even if it means I'm giving up some UI coolness, better graphics, etc., but not getting the iPad version.
The market works just fine.

Mac Pros are profitable for Apple so are Pro Apps, they have no reason to drop them. I've worked on PPro CS5 and it's very good, but it also has issues.
I cut on FCP almost every day, all in HD and lots of formats and it still works very well and more importantly it's been reliable.
Avid is and has always been a very powerful tool, it's rock solid media management mean it's the no1 choice for movies and large TV shows, neither FCP or Premiere can compete with it on that level.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the new FCP offers.
