Hello All,
Sorry for the post outside immigration boundaries.
My wife with 2 toddler kids will be traveling to India via Lufthansa.
I wanted to know from recent experiences how many check-in bags are allowed per person. My kids are 4 yrs old and they have a full ticket.
I know that some airlines only allow 1 checking per person, but wanted to know about Lufthansa specifically.
I could not find a clear answer on Lufthansa.com for baggage allowance to either India or Asia.

H1B transfer pending & going out of US for 3 days.
My h1b is valid till Sep 30 2008 and this h1b is from my old employer which I left on jun 20. I joined new employer on Jun 23rd and the petition was filed on Jun 16th, it was rcvd by USCIS on Jun 17th.
I am going to Mexico on Jul 4th and will be coming back on Jul 7th. Now if I am not asked to surrender i-94 while I leave USA I think I will be OK but if I had to surrender i-94 while leaving USA then what documents I should have to enter (USA) ???
Should I tell that I have joined new employer or should I not?
My old employer is not going to cancel my currenct h1b PLUS my old employer had filed for an extension also....
I have read that if the petitioner can not provide with proof of h1b transfer in form of rcpt notice or approved i 797 at the POE then he/she is inadmissible.
Please help by throwing out your thoughts/past experience/knowledge base in this area.

Hello -
Its been 30 days since my AP was mailed to me as per USCIS notification and I have not yet received it, but on other hand we receiver my wifes AP with in 3 days of approval.
Can you guys suggest if I have to wait little longer or assume its lost in mail and apply for new one.
Did any one on this forum experience more than 30 days to receive there AP since document mailed notification from USCIS.
I would appreciate your suggestions/comment.

The new bill does not care about STEM. The only qualification you need is a degree in ILLEGAL immigration.

Refile as what lawyer says, get new H1. That will give you some breathing room. If you see that current financial problem may jeopardize the new GC process as well, then you should switch over.
I assume this lawyer is hired by the company. So he will never advise you to make a move. It is you who have to look at all the options and see if it makes sense.

"01/14/2007: Comprehensive Immigration Reform Legislation Likely Timeline
Report indicates that the House and Senate special panel has been working hard to work out the new Comprehensive Immigration Reform Legislative bill. As everyone knows, this panel is led by Sen. McCain and S. Kenndy on the Senate side. It appears that the panel is targeting at introducing the bill first by March and pushing to pass the Senate by April, and the House then takes over the Senate passed bill and attempts to pass it quickly. We will have to wait and see whether or not this scenario will work as planned, but because of the changed political landscape, it is general opinion and concensus in the media and political circles that unlike the tragic experiences in the past few years, it will have a much better chance to make it this time on. If it fails to make it through as scheduled, the chance of the bill will turn slimmer because of the emerging 2008 national election politics and heat of passions involving politics. The AgJOBS bill which will legalize approximately 1.5 million farm workers on H-2A visa status currently receives a very strong support from legislators in both sides of the aisle, even though there is some difference between the White House and the Congress when it comes to the details. It is unknown whether this bill will eventually turn into a part of the CIR. AgJOBS bill is already nicknamed "Temporary Guest Worker" bill!
As for the Appropriation bills for the federal departments other than Defense and DHS, since Continuing Resolution to temporarily fund these departments will expire on February 15, 2007, there is expected some legislative activity to pass some of the minor immigration bills including H-1B reform as part of the appropriation legislative process. Ban in private company out sourcing also is very much necessary for USA. These so called multinational companies are minting money and this is not benefitting any one except the higher executives and board of directors of those companies. and of course Politricians.
PS:- If I am in India I will never say that OS is necessary, India should grow on its own pace with her talent and brains. India should have their own economy and techonology and not OS money going around.

India is growing of its own, using the talent and brains partially to fulfill orders outsourced from across the world. What is wrong with that? Its a fair business practice. Back in 1980s and early 90s no one in rich countries were oppose to the idea of open business between all the countries. Back then everybody in rich countries thought that since they already have well placed institutions and larger companies, they will buy out all the local companies in smaller poor countries, creating more employment for people in rich countries. No one in the rich countries was oppose to the idea of open economies back then. Guess what. We have come a full circle now. Just because it is hurting a few million people in rich countries, all of a sudden OUTSOURCING is a curse word. Get over it people, cry as you may but outsourcing aren't stopping. Ohio is playing the election gimmicks. OH government is not outsourcing any work anyways. To the contrary, if OH was outsourcing, the State government would be more productive and without deficit.
One more thing. Outsourcing is the not reason why Indian economy is doing better than others. Because some work is outsourced to India does not simply mean outsourcing is the reason for better economy. This is a simple explanation but the wrong explanation. Indian economy is doing better because during a course of many decades, people and government have spent less than what they make/produce and more importantly, instead of throwing money on the wrong wars, they spent money on the right things. Is that so difficult to understand that we must credit outsourcing for the state of Indian economy.

I did a little research I think that depends on the University and not in the type of master degree (on campus, online). There are some well known Universities that offer Online Master degrees like SMU, Michigan, Harvard, Illinois accredited by their respective boads.

It is intended to retain foreign workers who willfully enrolled in a U.S advance degree program to pursue higher studies, and as oh! To get investor's visa, you need to invest either in certain underdeveloped areas (half a million will be sufficient), or you need to create a certain number of jobs with your investment/business. I wonder, however, if one would qualify by buying an expensive house and providing jobs for 10+ people maintaining your house on a full-time basis. :)

I am not sure if the I-94 you receive along with your H1 approval means anything.
Also it’s your responsibility to hand over your stamped I-94 while leaving the country at the airport. When you arrive the new one you get in the plane will be stamped and should be used.

I thought even though you are a Indian Citizen, if you are already working in US, you can go to the Canada and apply from US Embassy in Vancouver or in Toronto. The wait times are really short, you can get an appoinment in less than 2 weeks.
1. It could be a H1 extension revalidation
2. H4 to h1 Visa stamping.
I have heard folks do it before. I have not done it myself, so cannot vouch for it though.
THis may be a cheaper alternative than going to India.
