Hahaha so true. Though the Brea employees are all pretty cool, and helpful! At least that's been my experience. Much more so than the Boston store.
Has anyone reserved with BestBuy and got any notification. Also, excuse my laziness, but does anyone know if the BestBuy reservation system is transferable between stores? (I.e. I'm leaving back to Boston on Sunday and don't want to get screwed if I reserve out here. Again lazy I know :p)
I'm not sure. I'm going to be reserving at best buy in a few hours. If they have iPads, yay. If not at least I have $100 down.

You and Westside_guy should get together...see post #24 in this thread. Then go see post #27.
#24 HAHAHA !
I was aware of the link in post #27, that's why I thought it was an unveiling of the tricky little macrumors feature.

Fact is apple Does not like to play by the rules. They want to have their products run on different accessories and what not. Apple does not believe in some of the other common things such as Blu-ray. Will piss you off when the standard wall mounts do fit and you have to buy the apple ones that cost 55% more. Basically Apple will not want to play with the other manufacturers not be the ones with universal remote codes. Be the company that doesn't place HDMI out on the TV because they don't believe 7.1 surround sound is worth anything.
Stop being a fool.
The Mac Mini has HDMI out. Why on Earth would Apple not include HDMI on a television? Also, my Harmony remote has no problem mimicking the AppleTV remote.

Gotta say that I'm not impressed.
AA batteries = stupid. Period.
I'm not a big fan of the Kensington studio mouse, but the charging cradle is ideal. Done for the night? Stick your mouse in the dock and forget about the batteries.
I think the general Mighty Mouse is pretty good (although the lift-index-finger-to-right-click is substandard -- just try to explain that to a non-computer person). The wireless version would have been quite good with a recharger.
Oh, well...

There was a similar story a few months ago about the I am Rich app. Some people thought it was a joke so they bought not realizing it was real.
As for wanting / not wanting kids. I don't know. Part of me would like kids one day. On the other hand, I'm afraid I'd mess them up.

What a bunch on whining individuals you are.
"this belongs on page 2"
"enough of this, page 2"
Yeah, yeah, all we know now is that it's becoming increasingly clear that the next generation iPhone is scheduled for a September release, end of story
stop whining geez
Why? It's good feedback for the owner of this site.

As first noted in a HardMac forum post (http://forum.hardmac.com/index.php?showtopic=159&st=0&p=917&#entry917), it appears Microsoft is specifying in its license agreements that the ability to operate in a virtualized environment is prohibited in Home Basic and Home Premium editions, leaving users to have to purchase either the Business or the Ultimate versions of the software to legally run in a virtualized environment.
Mac users have found virtualization solutions such as Parallels Desktop a good way to switch between Mac OS X and Windows. This latest news from Microsoft may inhibit some use of the software as Business and Ultimate editions range from $300-400 verses Home Basic's $200 price point (prices (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/08/20060829093154.shtml)).
Microsoft's EULA agreements can be found here (http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal/useterms/default.aspx).

It is know that apple has serval prototype iPhones. This is interesting at the least but seeing 3G at the top kinda sucks. We need a 4g faster device.

it still wont run on hulu
But the hulu plus service runs just fine (http://www.hulu.com/plus#devices) on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. There is no technical reason why regular hulu can't run on your iOS device. It's a financial decision by hulu.

is this 4.8% for the quarter or 4.8% total market share? if the former, nice, but no big deal; if the latter then very big deal.
It's 4.8 % total market share for the quarter. ;)
It's more than it was and so it is a big deal. However, what matters is sustained growth not incidental spikes. If they continue to grow, they will have mind share as well as market share, especially with companies like Sophos telling consumers to buy Macs to keep their information secure.
Market share is an interesting figure anyway. It doesn't talk about the installed base, only about the very current sales figures.

I too bought a new imac on the 16th. After finding out about the refresh I took it back on the 21st, no questions asked but they knew why I was doing it. I would agree to take it back before the 30th and wait it out. You will kick yourself in the butt unless you are 100% satisfied already.

Best comment on this thread!
I agree!
As a few others have said, the software is where it's at. Apple knows this. I dont think it really matters when they come out with another iPhone. They've got an amazing device with the iPhone 4 that can run pretty much anything normal people throw at it. If they can update the software to correct the few flaws it does have, it's going to be the perfect phone and the 5 will just further refine that. Everyone should really be focused on the conference in June.
I agree, mostly.
The next hardware advance will def have 4G, larger battery and A5.

It's going to have to outperform the ATV2 by leaps and bounds for me to purchase it. Sounds cool if it does and comes in at a reasonable price point though.

Do you want to buy 4 iMac 27''? Really nice , but why??
And also, a couple of Time Capsules? What are you planning to do with a computer?
I imagine he's kitting out a lab / office. No matter how nice the machines are, 4 of them is a bit much for a personal user ;-)

Let's just assume it's half music and half movies. That's roughly 142,000 songs and over 3000 movies. At .99 cents per song and $10 per movie, that's $170,000 if he paid for it. And he's complaining about $20 year. Hmmm....
Well, I don't know about this guy specifically. But I own over 20,000 vinyl records. Average 10 tracks each, that's 200,000 songs right there. Not to count at least that many 45's. A collection I've gathered over 50 years. Not to mention 78's, cylinders, etc.
Ever shopped a used music store? Movie store? Goodwill? I have thousands of movies myself, many of which I only paid a dollar or even less for.
I download hundreds of songs from emusic for about half the iTunes price.
It's pretty easy to amass a large collectiion without ever paying retail, and being completely legal.
I can't even begin to count the LP's that have been GIVEN to me over the years by people who went to CD and didn't want them anymore, taking up room. Literally station wagons full -- back when station wagons were HUGE. Cost? How about 0 cents per track, except the time spent playing them into the computer. And I'll be damned if I rebuy all the vinyl I bought through the 60's, 70's and 80's.
Ever have someone GIVE you a few hundred CD's because they're all now in their computer and ipod, and they don't want them taking up the room anymore? Sure, thats probably not legal, however, they made a copy and gave the originals away! It certainly wasn't a legal violation on my part! Are they supposed to put them in the trash? I suppose so.
Any idea how many CD's you can buy out there at 50 cents a pop at second hand stores and garage sales? Somehow, that's still legal!
I know I'm not the only one like me out here! Just saying... you're not considering the possibilities. And there's no way I would EVEr pay to stream my stuff from the internet (there is no "cloud")
