Has anyone seen anything about being able to redownload TV shows we already purchased with the higher resolution. I haven't seen anything, but if Apple doesn't offer this, I'll be pretty peeved off as I just bought these shows recently.

Wonderful composition! I really like how you choose to freeze the water as opposed to showing it flow. The reflected light, the symmetry - all great stuff.

A child does not naturally grow up to be socially responsible or kind. They naturally grow up to be self-centered and violent unless a parent or authority teaches them otherwise.
As negative as I think religion can be, it has set a code of conduct for people that enables cooperation and empathy for others.
Sorry, that is utter crap. My best friend in grade school was raised completely without religion, and he is the nicest person in the world. Meanwhile, there are copious and abundant examples of self-centered, amoral, greedy bastards preaching jesus to the masses: if religion cannot help them, what value is it?

Web developers need to use approved open standards and stop using Flash as a crutch. And if by Apple's own image, you mean far superior open standards that are approved by the W3C, then yes!
How is using what's often times necessary a crutch? Trying putting any kind of multimedia on your website or handling reliable file uploads and you'll quickly see why you need Flash to reach the broadest audience. Developers have been shouting to the W3C for years for what we need and HTML5 still doesn't address much of the stuff you'd rely on Flash for.
Sadly, most Flash use is gratuitously used by developers with no html standards based alternative (which is stupid to say the least) so Flash gets a bad rap but when it's done well, it blends right in. There's a reason why Yahoo, Gmail, youtube, vimeo, etc. all use flash.

There's no use whining. It makes our community look bad and doesn't do anything positive. These things happen and vulnerabilities exist. Its not about who's driver it is or if its part of the OS. Its about how quickly Apple responds, how they respond, and the vulnerability being fixed.

Of course! This announcement doesn't have any effect on a MBP release (although the MB may not get the update yet).
iMac and Mini updates today. maybe MBP updates today or this week also? make the media on the 12th all about the iPod and movies.

What the hell? Since when have apple made desktop computers?
These numbers include laptops too. Even the MBA falls in this category.

If I want a touchscreen based computer, I buy a iPad.
I can't imagine that you can work very productive if you must/can
switch from Mac OS X to iOS and vise versa in iMac.
It is important that Apple produce iMacs with a quad and hexacore processors (also for smaller displays)
and faster graphic cards build in. It is okay, that Apple has a (one!) slow and very energy efficient iMac in portfolio for classical office environment.
All other competitors has faster computers in the portfolio, so why not Apple?
The Mac Pro is not a solution for that issue (XEON processor, price, other application area).
iMac for rendering purposes and games today? Not really.
What is with USB 3.0 and SSDs in iMac? It is time Apple...

I think it could still happen, though. I still believe AppleMayhem had a credible story, and he said the 16th would be the day. Here's hoping.
Im with u on that, but if apple mayhem was wrong he should ...
If they do release mbp tomorrow/tuesday how many of u all are going to order an ipad too?
Perhaps apple is trying to lure us in by the wait and then the relief when they come out...

Personally I'm getting tired of Apple and their color choices. You have to pay more for black? What if you want 8 GB but you don't want black? What then? I'm not liking the approach Apple is taking on the color choices of their products.
Your not paying a premium for the color, you get 8GB. What sucks is you can't get 8GB in colors, lame move on Apple's part with no reason behind it.

Congratulations iMac fans - and well done Apple.
This really drives home the pain associated with the "professional" TOP of the LINE MBP that now sports a processor pack that is just a bit better than the top of the line Mac mini for heavens sake!!!! What is wrong with that picture:rolleyes:
Oh well - tick tock tick toc:confused:

Personally I haven't listened to them much in years, and last month did a retrospective of their stuff (http://www.geardiary.com/2010/11/09/music-diary-retrospective-a-magical-mystery-tour-of-the-beatles-catalog/)... it was interesting since most of my memory comes from the original US LP's my brother owned.
I really don't listen to much pop music ... I mention Pat Metheny as it is about as close to mainstream stuff as I get. So for me they aren't so tired ... certainly less so than the Eminem my older son listens to so much ...
I worded my original poorly, I was speaking of influence and being derivative ... Zepplin is a great example, as whether or not they were good, they were heavily influenced by the Beatles, Who, Jeff Beck group, and so on ... and it shows heavily in their work.

And they seem actually proud, inordinately so, of exploiting China's cheap labor. That's why "Designed in California" is followed by "Assembled in China." Snobs and serfs. That's their world.
I don't know about the USA but in Europe it's a legal requirement to display the country of manufacture so it may be nothing more than that
What are they manufacturing, and what percentage of Foxconn's output is represented by that type of product?
I don't know but the picture was with a story about phone manufacturing. I think all of FoxConn's output is high tech so it will be high tech of some sort.
Here are some more pictures of FoxConn's assembly lines

Even though I've worked in the broadcast industry for over 25 years, as a cameraman I don't consider myself to be a professional editor at all. In fact, I probably know how to use only about 1% of the full potential of Final Cut Pro.
However, we as operators are sometimes required to send either edited track and rushes or complete edited packages from locations either locally or abroad, and in broadcast quality.
The ease of use in acquiring footage using a tapeless medium via Log & Transfer (in our case, P2 @ DVCPRO HD), editing on a native timeline and then transferring back to a card with no loss from transcoding is phenomenal. But FCP 6 & 7 had some caveats which I'd hoped would be addressed - especially with our codec of choice.
Our network decided to go with P2 because it was the most solid and diverse codec available for news, current affairs, sports and documentary use - being MPEG-4 native with an Intra-base (with no GOP). Metadata is an important aspect of our workflow, and older versions of FCP relied on third party applications in order to import metadata fields along with our clips.
So far, there's not been much noise as to whether Apple have addressed further P2 support for:

That was my reading, that they were ordered by their sbosses in the company to get the manuscripts ready and sent to Apple, presumably because of a deal between the two companies.
The problem with this rumor is that publishing companies most certainly would not send over *manuscripts*, which lack production editing, but rather *page proofs* or even *mechanicals*, which are post-production editing, or (since they're far more likely to have these than proofs), *loose pages* from remaindered or warehoused books. I can't imagine that they would be working from manuscripts, as they would have versioning issues (the manuscript is not the final version of what it published, as authors nearly always make changes to galley proofs, and editors *always* make changes between the manuscript and the galleys; but changes are rarely made after the page proofs, and almost never after the mechanicals); and I can't imagine that anyone in the publishing business would speak of "manuscripts" when what they much more likely to be talking about is loose pages.
