why does everyone complain on who carries the ipad 2??? seriously grow up and realize that its an opportunity for you to get one. if your an average person looking for an ipad the last place you would look is toys r us . that benefits you . i personally work at radioshack and yall complain that radioshack carries it too. stop living in the 80's and think that we have electronic projects that you do every month for your grandson . radioshack offers the best deals with the trade in program ( which i bet most of yall dont even know about ) example : just did this yesterday , traded in a ladies iphone 3gs 16 GB and upgraded to an iphone 4 16GB for $25 . please name someone that can beat that price??? nough said . same thing with the ipad . bring them your old ipad and you pay very little money towards new electronics . of course this is not with EVERY item so dont be that costumer that complains that they get $12 for a beat up HTC hero
THINK before you speak . and stop complaining

You can do that now. Put in a CD and deselect the check mark to the left for any song you don't want ripped. I do it all the time.
Thanks, I'll try that. I've always had to hit the "burn" button and then select or deselect the songs AFTER the disk was ripped. Of course, I often don't know which song has the scratch until I've tried to rip the whole disk, but at least I'll be able to save the rest of the songs.

Britain is very class based, and is probably racist too. Black people here are generally poor and don't do particularly well at school as well.

I called the Apple Store here in San Diego, CA and the guy that answered the phone said that they were in 'transit'. I asked him well okay, so do you have an idea when they will be in? -- no
?
I thought they were available today? (i mean besides apple.com)

So explain the 920,000 workers FoxConn employs.
Clearly, something in manufacturing gadgets and electronics, which is FoxConn's primary business, requires a lot of labor or else they wouldn't be employing close to a million people!
Like you, I'm not familiar with the details of their business model. Some of what they manufacture might be labor intensive, and some of it might be built on a robotic assembly line. Trying to figure this out from that Wikipedia article will be nothing but speculation.

Top Secret stuff? You mean like a movie download service? Or a Front Row PVR? iPhone software?
I find it interesting that he didn't say anything about Front Row and how it would be improved. He didn't say anything about iChat and how it might evolve into a phone service with an integrated iPod/iPhone. In fact, everything they did show are pretty much improvements to existing technologies, except Time Machine (way cool). They didn't add HD-DVD/Blueray to the Mac Pros. I guess what I'm getting at are things that didn't show up are most likely software technologies that have an accompaning hardware device to go with it, and since those products aren't ready they can't spill the beans just yet.
Mac World in January is going to be amazing!

Has anyone else noticed all the shaped app icons? As far as I know, I don't think that's a feature right now... Maybe I'm wrong. But there are a lot of circles, and there's even a gear. Also they're 3D. I don't think that would mean anything, but I saw an idea once that the iPhone could know what angle you're looking at it, and make the screen look 3D accordingly... But the battery life is already not great, so I'm sure they wouldn't want to kill it with some pointless (maybe not pointless, for games) feature...?
Yeap...

I don't see how this comes as a surprise.
Blacks lack a positive male figure; all of this rap and hip hop culture doesn't help them, gangs terrorizing otherwise calm neighborhoods with ignorance and loudness, old banged up Buicks and Chevys with stupid big rims, rattling trunks, etc
They need a positive male figure to look up to or else these numbers will just end up higher.

Continuing the ever-present hum of Core 2 Duo MacBook rumors, AppleInsider reports that the much-anticipated upgrade may come this week (http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=2207).
Some readers will recall that last week was filled with similar but less-certain claims. A page 2 report by MacRumors (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/10/20061031195123.shtml) had pieced a few, apparently coincidental reports together that suggested an update may have been in the works by late last week. Even after that did not pan out, a European reseller claimed (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/11/20061102134456.shtml) that Core 2 Duo Macbooks would be arriving for sale on November 13th. This claim is largely regarded as a spotlight grab, and there is no evidence that the reseller has any inside information.
The newest information published by AppleInsider reveals 3 Apple product numbers. The product numbers are in sequence, which is common for products in the same family, and suggests that the numbers will be used as the replacement numbers for Apple's 3 MacBook models. The new products are reportedly en-route to the U.S. this week.
AppleInsider has previously claimed that development of the models had been finished (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/09/20060919000003.shtml) and was set for release before the beginning of the holiday shopping season at the end of November.
Wouldn't it be great if a graphics card appeared in these updates...?

Why does Apple have to do something about it? Haven't they given Adobe all the info (specs, requirements and restrictions) that they need to make a flash player for the iPhone? If Adobe can't do it within those parameters, then it's on them.
It's on Apple. It's about the $$$. They want to sell you video, and not have you watching it for free on some other site.
(And it could also be part of the original plan with AT&T, whose network really couldn't handle all that video traffic at the start, and probably still can't.
And QT will never be the video standard, because it allows you to save the content. Flash-video sites don't want you saving the video content.

Books are expensive these days. How much would e-books go for?
If audiobooks are any indication, don't expect to save any money by saving trees. :p

Remember that you quoted and responded to my post on a discussion about the cost of UPGRADING from XP to Vista. The $399 price is not an upgrade price. Mentioning or refering to the $399 retail box edition is either ignorant or disingenuous in a discussion on UPGRADING from XP to Vista.

I guess we'll see the second coming of the ibook shortly. This will probably be a small tablet size. Is it possible to use two different kind of screen technology on the same screen. OLED and TFT. The only thing is that when I was in Japan earlier this year I saw and used the Sony ereader with eInk it was really a very nice device and the screen feels like a paperback book, it isn't true white and doesn't strain the eyes. I guess, this new device is going to use text recognition and voice over, I don't know if this is going to work since Agnes is not really that great wih expressions, but we'll see. I really have no clue how this is going to pan out, I really would rather have Apple release a gread digital video camera with HD/HD but they have some sort of deal with sony or panasonic that they won't what gives!!!!
At this point, I hope they split the iPod line into iPods (music / video) and iBooks (music, ebooks).
I, like many on this forum given the comments, cannot read an LCD for a long period of time. Also, the power consumption of a LCD for reading the text probably wouldn't be good. The real promise of the Sony and Royal (?) readers is the eInk. Looking at eInk displays, you get the true white with no eye strain (you have to be told that is not a sticker of the screen it is an actual image on the screen). The power consumption is measured in pages (it has to redraw, not refresh like an LCD). There is a color version, but it doesn't look as developed. All this is perfect for books, but would not work for video. This would seem to be a real problem with an all in one unit. You could allow reading on the LCD, but it would be a pain.
Since Apple just freed up a great trademark, come out with an iBook ebook reader. Allow it to play music, but not video. Make it paperback size with a good interface / spotlight search / bookmarks. Use the standard iPod cord and iTunes. Allow it to read PDF, RTF, DOC, HTML, Text and whatever format Apple uses for the DRM version. Get a lot of textbook companies to sell their books on it and replace a lot of backpacks. A color version would be better so you could get comics / anime.

I think the MacRumors posters have solved this problem with their insightful comments.
Now to the most important thing:
Will the iphone and ipad get less expensive when produced in Brazil? LOL
great question.,..
the answer: for brazilian people? yes, between 10% and 20%
for other countries? No.

You all crack me up at least, thanks for the chuckles!
Conditional thievery is just something people do in order to justify whatever they are doing unlawfully. Downloading and cracking the Adobe suite? HIGH FIVE! Breaking into a car dealership and driving off with a car you didn't pay for? NO of course not! Because 'that's different' when it isn't. A company offers a product/service and you are using it/taking it without compensation for that item. Digital or physical it's the same thing.
The funniest are the OSS/Linux advocates who claim that "piracy isn't theft" and "it doesn't hurt anyone" and then whine like a baby when someone "violates" the GPL and call for stern measures (such as lawsuits) against the violater.
Hey, if no one is hurt when you do it then no one is hurt when someone does it to you.

The Beatles did the meat thing in 1966. ;)
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/5/55/The_Beatles_-_Butcher_Cover.jpg/602px-The_Beatles_-_Butcher_Cover.jpg
The legendary butcher cover.
My brother in law bought the regular cover "Yesterday and Today" album for 25 cents at a garage sale, but underneath the placid regular cover was this gory one.
He then called our friend who owned a local used record shop. The record store owner urged him not to peel off the front image, even though my brother in law was curious as to what may be underneath that wholesome photo of the Beatles. Despite its estimated value at that time (early 90's) being $1,000 dollars, he steamed off the regular cover to reveal the butcher cover and thus dropped the value of the LP by half the amount. The record shop owner was distraught!
The most sought after cover is the censored "safe" one with this gore hiding underneath it. Today a cover like this, with all the blood and gore, would not upset anyone.

I already said my point multiple times, the numbers are completely disproportionate whether you want to face it or not. And i don't believe for a second that it's because of racism, i think its a crap excuse and it's played out. I don't know what the reason is, that's why i started this thread. To get some input from everyone. You have to admit that the number of blacks committing violent crimes compared to their small population in their countries is a bit baffling. If you want to blame it on "oppression" that hasn't existed for a long time, while many blacks are successful and productive citizens unbothered by "oppression", then go for it, i just don't buy it.
Yes but I'm interested to know why you think the numbers are disproportionate. If you don't think it's race, finances, or lack of access to social services then what is it?

PC sales are shrinking because of stagnation in the primary driving force for selling new PC hardware.
Games.
Gamers now have 4 platforms to choose from (smart phone, console, hand-held, PC), and game developers are putting LESS dollars into high end PC titles and concentrating on consoles for their premium products.
With no Diablo 3 (or whatever) to entice me with gameplay I can't find anywhere else, I have much less of a reason to play games on my PC rig, much less upgrade it.
When it comes to writing emails or checking facebook, a smart phone or tablet will do that just as well as a PC.
Macs have never been gaming machines, so they are immune from that particular effect. It is 'trendy' to have a macbook right now (seriously, go to a coffee shop and tell me what you see), and the vast majority of their sales are to less-technology/gadget-savvy users who have bought their Mac because of other people telling them that Macs are good, rather than the hardware, specs, or software on the computer.
In the end, it is all marketing... which is the case with most of Apple's products. They have been selling PC hardware now for years at a higher price than their competitors. Windows 7 isn't any worse (or better) than MacOS for browsing the web or checking email..... so its not the OS that is influencing soccer moms and emo kids to buy Mac either.

I also doubt we'll be seeing a phone, but anything's possible with Apple.
Nobody was really expecting this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=500), remember?
THAT is exactly what Im talking about. All you people bitch and complain about new things/developments that Apple might be working on (and later announce) and at first you all hate it. Then you get used to it, and then one day you find you love it. I hope the iPhone does come out and you all hate it and it becomes a phenomenal success....the same case the iPod once faced. Same with the new names (MacBook). Same with the switch to Intel (now look how lucky we are). Same with the Intel integrated graphi...well...no one likes those actually, but my point is stop thinking you're going to hate it because you're most likely going to end up getting it anyway.
