woke up hung over at 4am to see the news on here, get back up in time to get up to run over to the local toys r us in Rockville, MD and when i get to Rockville Pike, they have a marathon that partially closes the road, costs me several minutes until can get on the Pike, i get to the toys r us, they just sold the last of their 5 to the guys who got there about a minute before
undeterred and since can't cross the pike anyways due to the run, go to Montgomery Mall just to see what is up at the Apple Store, decent line, they gave out the tickets, got the 16GB Black iPad
leave, on the road i find my rear right wheel well is smoking heavily, i wonder wtf don't panic, let the wind put the fire out, brake pad melted in the process
all for an iPad that isn't even mine, i went to get it for my mother who was too tired to rush out on a whim, i still don't have the cash yet to afford my own
c'est la vie

I think that by far the most pragmatic and likely scenario is that the slogan refers to streaming video on Apple TV and perhaps the iPhone, coupled with some content-related announcements (hi-def and/or rentals).
That's all, nothing more exciting.

I like the dictionary idea. But aren't we getting into the realm of the tablet/PDA now?
The big difference is extreme simplicity and loads of content on a central and popular place, iTunes. Its amazing to see the iPod gradually grow into a multifunctional device and the road it took to get there.

Wouldn't be a bad idea. Even if they just made "patches" so we aren't downloading half a gb of updates every 2 weeks.

Bach is awesome.
The Beatles are awesome.
Go outside, people.
I agree completely. Is it a crime to actually like both Bach and The Beatles? I must be an aberration or some kind of musical freak, according to certain people in this discussion:D
And it's nice and sunny outside today.
Anyway, good news on the early success of The Beatles- hopefully they can keep selling and laugh in the face of their detractors.

Just called couple of radioshacks and 9/10 confirmed that they are in fact going to have them tomorrow. The stock is very limited though .. 1-3 pieces.
should I try my luck tomorrow? instead of waiting till April 26...

I went to a best buy around Boston and asked for an MBP, kinda hoping they'd tell me it's out of stock for now.
The sales person told me they just got in a truckload of the current MBPs on Friday, and they have in stock whatever I want.
He told me in his experience with best buy inventories, he thinks it will take about two more months until the next refresh.

I'm sorry SuperJudge. I should have worded myself better. What I'm trying to say is that the information presented on the web page that I referenced points to contextual clues that would require one to know the Hebrew language to understand. Additionally, understanding Hebrew history in terms of traditional beliefs and culture is also beneficial when understanding the connections between the old and new testament and hence the old and new covenant. We believe that Christ fulfilled the prophecies of the old testament.
I didn't mean to imply that traditional Jewish belief supports the concept of the trinity. Obviously, it does not as they interpret the old testament as a stand alone without the revelation of the new testament.
I didn't intend to be confusing, just to point out that simply reading the old testament on its own in a modern translation might not bring out all of the nuances that are there in the original language and context.
For answers regarding how the old testament itself does point to a triune God then look at the web page I referenced in my previous post.
I see what you're saying now. I disagree to large extent, because of those same nuances in ancient Hebrew that are paralleled in other ancient Semitic languages that belonged to non-monotheistic peoples and what scholarly research has to say about the evolution of Jewish beliefs from the period of the Exodus Forward.
I think I understand where you're coming from, though, and I realize that I am coming from a very different sort of place.

It would be great if Apple offered the ability to stream 1080i content wirelessly to my home theater, but that's not feasible yet, is it?
It would be thrilling if Apple released this ultraportable with a docking station computer. I'd be all over that, but it has nothing to do with being "in the air."
It would be amazing if Apple announced some kind of joint venture with Google to offer nationwide WIFI, but that's nowhere near being feasible.

It all depends what you want to do in Vegas. If you're wanting to go to restaurants, shows, and/or spa then $1500 is plenty for a few nights of that and you'll have some left over for quarter VP/slots. If you're wanting to go to the club and buy 4 bottles every night...then $1500 isn't going to get you very far.

Same manufacturer does not mean the same battery. Apple designed their battery from scratch, no other computer manufacturer uses the same battery as Apple. I'm floored at how fast it charges, how long it lasts, and how little charge its lost (its at 90% after 9 months and 172 cycles).
I'll call BS on that.
Apple does not design their own batteries. The casing perhaps, but not the core.
They spec them to a vendor. Then vendor does the actual design work.
As for performance, my Dell battery goes from 5% to full charge in a little over an hour.
Not bad in my book.
Hell the battery in my ThinkPad T410 goes from dead to full charge 30 to 45 minutes. And that thing is a monster.
The stock 6 cell last roughly 6 hours (kept it as a spare) and the 9 cell lasts over 11.

It's funny because there are devices that allow you to do these things.
Apple allows the normal people to move forward in the technology world.
You're right. Apple is a prime example of making otherwise foreign technology mainstream with a little cachet. Sounds simple, but it ain't.

Unfortunately, you wouldn't because you'd probably be out of business.
I don't buy that argument. If a customer wants to buy a DVD, they'll just go to Best Buy instead of Walmart, or wherever else it is sold.
Walmart doesn't sell Grand Theft Auto, yet it is still a big seller in the video game market.

Mac OS X 11.0? Seriously?
You mean Mac OS XI?
Maybe there's room for an X-11 pun in Apple's naming scheme say if the 1s were index fingers, indicating a unix touch interface.
And yes, I'd love a touch interface for X.7 and don't care about names. Not being able to touch the screen is bordering on frustrating nowadays. I'd still be happy for an optional keyboard (typing, key command shortcuts, I use them all the time), but moving stuff with a mouse is just inefficient now.
I can see value in tossing out legacy OS X code for 'new' iOS code and making a clean-start for the next Mac operating system, like OS X was for OS 9.
Given Apple's success getting Mac OS developers to move to native OS X, you'd have to wonder what the success rate would be moving to an entirely new touch OS. It's not that developers are slow, as much as 'the majority' of customers are even slower, so there's no incentive for developers.
However, if you sell it as a new line of products, that's a discontinuity that might be perceived as 'new growth' instead of an upgrade/backward compatibility nightmare. You know how managers and stock analysts just love 'new growth areas' and tech sites just love 'new and shiny'.
Might be another genius move by Steve Jobs to solve the age old problem of backward compatibility. Just start a new product line! I guess we'll find out in less than 60 days now (if the rumours are correct).
Can't wait.
P.S. Touch iMacs and MacBooks would have to be wedge shaped, higher at the back for better viewing angle. That stand thingy is the right idea, just think outside the box a little morethe cooling would probably run left-right, not up as iMacs run now.

I've amblyopia in my left eye which makes my eyes unable to focus on the same point in a distance, they're slightly off (the focal points), sufficiently so to cause me to not be able to see most of these types of screens in 3D. I do see in 3D, e.g. I saw Avatar in 3D, but even then, it's underwhelming and causes me to strain needlessly.
I am willing to bet there's a large segment of the population that is impervious to 3D screens. If they offer a 3D without a regular 2D screen, they would screw me out of buying an iPad, ever. I'm still warming up to getting one, but producing 3D or marking up the price because of 3D or building applications that are "3D" - would completely turn me off and away from ever getting an iPad or any "3D" apps on it.

iPad 3 - iPad 3D
I could really see that, with the iPhone 3G (it was actually the 3rd phone) and had 3G.
And it will be called:
iPad 3D.
You heard it here first folks.
Thanks to both you because Apple probably hasn't thought of this already.
