It doesn't make sense on either side:
1. IV is not going to change its policy of hiding information. If you are comfortable with the approach then contribute otherwise don't.
2. Shouting and bashing here on website will gain nothing.
Do something creative. I think the basic problem is not hiding information. Basic problem is that as a non-profit organization, we don't have elections. We as a group have no rights to choose who is core. But thats how it is.

And if you don't want to participate, that's fine, but why would you discourage others from sending a simple message to the Senators from their state? Don't you have anything better to do?

Few employers and few lawyers didn't apply for EAD/AP on July 2nd. My employer said they applied for 485 but not EAD/AP. They will wait for receipt notice and then apply for EAD/AP.
After Aug 17th, can we still apply for EAD/AP knowing dates won't be current.

There seems to be a lot of misconceptions on what to do when stopped by CBP (Customs & Border Protection), colloquially known as "Border Patrol".
Border Patrol Agents are federal agents and answer to no state/local authorities except their own. Despite misconceptions on their authority and the civil rights issues of road blocks, Border Patrol agents are authorized to detain and make arrests based on the following -
a. Inability to establish identity
b. Inability to establish immigration status
c. Trafficking - Narcotics, Weapons, Tobacco, Alcohol etc. etc.
d. Detain/arrest felons with federal warrants
e. Enforce laws related to trade agreements/customs
As far as what gives the CBP the right to stop/search you,

As far as making photocopies (Colored / B&W), pre-June 1st, 2009, the law clearly stated that photocopies of official US documents cannot be used as proof of valid status. Aside from being charged from counterfeiting US documents for purposes other than official purposes (application to a US agency), Border patrol will reject such documentation. The only exception after June 1st, 2009 is the following -
"June 1, 2009: ALL persons*, including U.S. citizens and Canadian citizens over the age of 15, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), will be required to present a valid passport or other document such as passport cards, NEXUS or SENTRI cards, or driver's licenses that meet certain security requirements. Children 15 years of age and younger are exempt from the passport requirement, although they will be required to have copies of their birth certificate. (The copy does not have to be certified, xerox copies are ok, but certified is always better.) You will be detained if the Border Agent decides that there is enough suspicion to do so but it is up to the discretion of the agent. Technically, you are supposed to carry documentation, IN ORIGINAL. Some exceptions are those who have a valid Driver's License from states who have implemented the "REAL-ID" act.

I would just stick with one and only one:
RE-CAPTURING VISA NUMBERS.
If we add any other item like re validating H1B inside US,accountability for USCIS etc, the message would bound to get lost. It will get bogged down by the details of implementing the other proposals. The devil is always in the details.
I think we need to stick to single target of visa re-capturing (with no mention of the word H1B in the legislation). There should be no crap about H1B workers stealing jobs nor granting pardon for illegals. Visa re-capture is for educated foreign-born professionals currently employed in US.
Many ask if this is the right time. When will be the right time?. Are we asking anything that has not been already granted by the law?. These past visa numbers have been already approved by the law but not used by the USCIS.
The time is RIGHT NOW.
It is interesting why IV team is not taking up this one item and start fund raising.
May be the team has some valid reasons for not doing so. I could only guess.
But waiting for the right time to take up this agenda of re-capturing visa numbers is not a valid reason. That is totally hopeless.

I assume there are more people like me out there that originally filed in 2003 or 2002 for ROW EB3 and then there came Perm
Since nobody had touched my 2003 file (backlog), my lawyer advised me that PERM would be a good way to go, it also would give me a chance to file with a new job descroption that fit my by now different position.
Bad thing was that she did not advise me to recapture my 2003 date but rather kept both applications in the running saying that we could cancel the 2003 when they finally got to it, which was June 2007 and at that point I could file in July for 485 with the Perm. Now my 2003 case was a regular one so we would have had to redo the hiring we did already for the perm.
I have this feeling there were many older backlogged cases that people ended up cancelling last year since their PERM ones are further along and they did not want to go through any more hiring processes or lawyers payments. Or because they gave up?

Do want to note that I had made this suggestion several times last year. But no one in IV leadership paid attention. I had argued that without exact numbers we can't make a good case with the lawmakers. Good that people have decided to wake up now!!

Please do not mind, my writing this - I honestly think we should stop writing insensible comments like "sick people getting frustrated" and the like...
IV is a professional not for profit outfit, with a set agenda. We should work together towards achieving our goal, through legal, available channels.
If things work out - great! If they don't, it's disappointing but not the end of the world.
People who chose to stay and wait longer for their Permanent Residency will do so; those who cannot (for whatever reasons) will find other alternatives...
Let's not make this a platform for venting out our frustrations.

The best way to teach them a lesson and make them ineffective is to simply prove their points are clear blatant lies and put their credibility under question.
We should create a webfax through IV to senators and legislators that reveals their lies and hits them in their core, and let the senators know that believing in these type of immigration-KKK type of organizations will put their credibility among the general public in question and is very badly detrimental to their future.

So I know what you gonna do , next time when you meet the border patrol.
