This is a very useful thread!

Has anyone tried using the multiple mask technique to expand dept of field rather than (or in addition to) dynamic range? Might have to soften the edge of the mask but in principle it should work, using one photo set to near focus and the other to infinity. Obvioiusly a tripod would be essential. For non-manual focus lenses one could toggle the infinity focus on/off.

If that is a problem...you know...thousands more filing 485 and swamping/drowning/choking/killing CIS, then maybe, in that case, we should not be pushing for SKIL bill also. Correct?

Because :

What happens if 485 filing is allowed?
All and sundry apply for 485 and swamp USCIS and choke/swamp/kill them.

What happens if SKIL bill passes?
All and sundry apply for 485 and swamp USCIS and choke/swamp/kill them.
And they swamp them even more since they also have to process them not just accept those 485 petitions, since SKIL increase numbers and makes those dates current?

So maybe we should not push for SKIL bill also.

And let me take that a little further. Maybe we should not ask for any numbers increase, we really should be thinking about USCIS and not just ourselves. How selfish of us to think about ourselves? Its always Me me me.

Why dont we every stop and think about the poor USCIS worker who has to work 40 hours a week just so that people like us can get our stupid little H1s and EADs renewed ?

Where were you until now dionysus? How come the other 8500 registered members never ever stop and think about the poor poor USCIS and its workload?

Both Shaktisagar and Greyhair make very valid points. Which side wins the argument well only time will tell. Nothing works the way it ideally should. The world is evolving and this recession and all this policies are all part of the evolution. People have started rethinking the value of having money versus true peace/hapiness slowly. In the US the disparity was partly hidden by the "plastic". Everybody was given a plastic and everybody could buy and live the "dream". Well that has just about ended to some extent. The problem is that, it is just about begining in Indian/china/brazil and russia.

What brings real peace/hapiness? Once 3rd world citizens (like Indians) get over the issue of "am I better than my neighbour?" India will progress towards its real goal very fast. The real goal being true peace and hapiness rather than the pseudo/fancy/fantasy/unreal/materialistic world that is propagated by the media.

If only we all had easy access to our inner ability for tremendous patience to tide over this process of evolution.......But it lies beyond our reach while we lie rolling in the misery created by our thoughts and desires.........

I believe the general line of thought is any time between 6 to 12 months.

But I wonder how the AC21 affects this. It seems as though if you invoke AC21 and change employers before getting GC (following all rules like "similar job" etc) , you are not obligated to eventually join back the original GC sponsoring employer after one gets GC.

But if you stick with the same orginal GC sponsoring employer till you get GC, then you are obliged to show good faith intent and have to continue for 6-12 months (although technically USCIS/DOL don't give any specific limits). There is no AC21 kind of provision once you get GC !

I have an approved I-140 from my current US company but there are some discussions of "layoffs" going around and I want to be ready for any scenario.

My question is whether I can retain my PD with an approved I-140:

1.) If the employer hasn't taken any decision to cancel I-140.

2.) If the employer writes to USCIS about cancelling I-140.

Ria,

This not correct. if you are on H visa in USA, you can definitely apply for Canadian Landed Immigration. In order to maintain your immigration in Canada, you have to stay atleast 2 years in Canada in a 5 year period.
Moreover, in order to fulfill your citizenship requirement, you have to be physically present in Canada for atleast 3 years.

I recieved reply from consulate stating that I need to get PCC from US consulate as I have not being living in India for a long time therefore there is no use of getting PCC from local police station. Now anybody let me know if I fly to SFO they would give my PCC with in a day or would take time ??/

Your PD being what it is ..I dont think it really matters in terms of time whether its EB2 or EB3. Honestly I think the best bet is to have an approved 140 ASAP.

Your date becoming current anytime without congressional action is very rare. But Lets assume there is a congressional action and you have a problem with your 140 .. your petition cannot be approved even though your date becomes current. Another important thing to consider is A2P at 140 stage, it depends on your company's size , profitability ...

One can present a contradictory argument much more eloquently too.

You have to keep in my mind that "there is no premium processing available for 140 now".

Convetional wisdom of my attorney is that dont attract unnecessary scrutiny, so far he has been proven right in my case ....

Sometimes it's hard to get the dust off the sensor with one cleaning. I've cleaned mine once so far, and it still has some dust. I need to get some compressed air so I can recharge my $3 "sensor brush" from walmart and clean the CCD again. ;)Please continue to post your results with that brush. Is there any way to link buying house and green card?

I know EB5 is to invest $500,000 to get a green card.

How about to invest $500,000 buying a house in US and get a green card? Say 100,000 green card for that, that would help the current US economy a lot.
