There seems to be a lot of confusion between morality and reality in this thread. Let me give a real life experience as example and comparison....
I don't have all the details, so I won't comment further on this unfortunate rape and please don't misinterpret that I am saying theft compares to rape. My point is that each of us can take steps to protect ourselves. Will taking these steps guarantee our safety, no, but they can certainly minimize risk.

Your comparison isn't apt. If you're wearing gold chains and bracelets and hundred dollar bills sticking out of your pockets, yes it would increase your chances of being mugged.
I would argue that flashing cash is worse in terms of risk than wearing a suit, but that depends on the neighborhood and the suit. A well-dressed Wall Street-type in a chicano neighborhood is running a higher risk than the vato with a thick bank roll. However, Gelfin's comparison remains, as Lord Blackadder noted, apt.

Many forum members here in the past have claimed that these methods also fall under the classification of torture, so what if information obtained using these methods led to the death of O.B.L.?
Don't care. When it comes to torture I'm an absolutist- it is unacceptable no matter the circumstances. I'd rather never have found Bin Laden than torture someone to find him, if that is what happened.

Ask one of the Apple Store managers, but I'm almost certain they would have a procedure for destroying/recycling those displays. Apple doesn't seem like the sort of company who would let someone take any of that home when they're done with them.

I know rumors aren't good to use, but I'm sure there were pre-production parts for the iPhone4 showing up by this time last year, maybe the fact that there isn't gives more credibility to the next version coming later.

I'd love to see Apple displace Google Maps on their iOS devices. That would be a major blow to Google and a major win for Apple and their iAd product. The more you tie maps into adverts the more personalized those adverts become. The more successful marketing campaigns. Apple can take iAds to the next level. :cool:

If Apple included Google Places, I would understand your argument. As it is, Apple provides such a basic set of maps features that Google really will not lose anything if Apple switches providers (or becomes the provider).

samsung is #2 patents holdings in USA. apple barely broke into top 5 recently.
$$ and patents holdings tell me it won't be so easy for apple.

Hi All,
I have recently run into this weird system font. I have attached a screenshot to show what I mean by the weird error font. I don't remember me doing anything related to the font or the system system but just happened the next day. I have tried to seek for solution online but not successful, perhaps cause i can't explain it in detail.
Please can anyone help and let me know if there is any way that I can reverse it back to default original. Thank you very much.

Hi.
After upgrading my computer and my software (from Tiger to Leopard) a strange thing happened: my Airport signal (which was the strongest before) is at the middle. But the strangest thing is that, when I open Network Preferences, my internet connection is showed as a PCI Ethernet slot 3, port 3 connection (although it shows an Airport icon); for Airport, it says it's connected but it has no IP address! I have a PCI Ethernet card, but it's not connected.
I also intalled a PCI USB 2.0 card, but I don't think it has anything to do with that.
Any ideas?

I know the reason, or the supposed reason (who knows, Apple has been as tight lipped as ever on the issue) . If true, its a disgrace it made it to the keynote presentation, without the issue being identified or a reasonable fix found. I don't care how you square it - being 10 months late for a device who has an average life of 12 months is utter incompetence and hence disgraceful.
Hats off for Apple sticking to it, but that does not take away from the fact that they should never have made the promise w/o a better understanding of production issues. The iPhone 4 design has been around since at least January per spy shots of the iPad before release. So, its not as if the design was so new that they could claim there was no time to identify the issue until after the June 2010 keynote by Steve Jobs.
Once again you are proving that you know nothing about production issues.
There is a big difference between making a few samples to show and circulate and real en masse production.
There are also issues with white products that only show up after a certain amount of time.
White tends to have aluminum oxide pigments and in many cases light inhibitors. Depending on the material used there may have been a delayed photo mechanical reaction.
That especially, when several layers of white are used.
But I am only guessing, the real issues are only know to Apple.
You also know absolutely NOTHING about the real issues other than what people speculated.
For Apple to recognize it and NOT ship it, just because they showed it proves what a good company they are.
Whatever time it then took to fix it is unimportant.
If you would be for once logical you could see that in Apple's eyes there was a significant problem that took time to figure out.
If there wasn't it would have shipped already long time ago!
