This has to be the worst MacWorld in my recollection. I was super excited to see a Leopard demo, and to order iLife '07 and iWork '07. Especially iWork, which I use all the time.
The name change scares me. The iPhone is useless to me since it is super expensive, and Cingular won't touch South Dakota with a 200 mile pole.
And the Apple tv? Please. If it had DVR capability, I'd be on board. But, everything has to go through iTunes.
My only highlight of the day wasn't even in the keynote, and that's the new AirPort Extreme Base Station. I'll probably get one of those sometime this Spring when I get married. Oh well.

New radiators for my apartment, which cost 750 euros.
Three new rugs for the apartment, which cost 480 euros.
And a few hundred bucks towards my nearly $1000 online shopping spree.
I needed the radiators BADLY, and my parents got them for me. And the carpets I had were my grandmothers from what seems like centuries ago. We are a little tight on money this Christmas because we did a lot of renovations to my apartment, and to the house where my parents stay in the village. I cant complain though, since Im with my family and friends.

Yes... although I don't have any children. It was exactly what I was allowed to do at 18 with the proviso that I took precautions. 18 is/was way past the age of legal consent at the time...
If you know that they're already having sex then encouraging them to be responsible and open is a far better way to go than by curtailing it and forcing them to sneak around behind your back.

I don't like the idea. The moment they start chipping away at devices, it'll set a bad precedent for future negotiations. It'll be hard to get back those rights. Apple, hold strong!! :)
As much as I don't like the idea of limiting the amount of devices that can play content purchased from the iTunes Store, I think that Apple might eventually have to come to a middleground with the other movie studios. Apple did have to come into some sort of agreement when the made the deal with Disney, so I think that they will do the same with the other studios.
Personally, I would not have too much of a problem if content were limited to 5 computers and 5 iPods.
I can understand what the studios are doing. Hell, I know it well because of the fact that I work in the movie industry. I can say first-hand that everything is about business and money first, artistic expression second.

I think people are in contracts and don't want to pay an arm and a leg to get out of them. Also people know that a new iphone is rumored to be out in the Summer/Fall so why buy an old model.

How about fixing the bug where listening to home sharing from your iDevice doesn't update play counts in iTunes like its suppose to. Not sure if it's a iOS bug or a iTunes bug but it doesn't work on either Windows or OS X.
Made a post here about it and on the official Apple boards and haven't found a single person who said it works for them. Only people who are also complaining about it.

The new search feature actually looks pretty awesome. It works like spotlight in System Preferences (where it darkens everything except the items that match your search string).

Once Yahoo started their AJAXy mail service (FireFox only for Macs of course) I thought Apple would have to upgrade their service. I'm hoping their new partnership with Google will bring interoperability between .Mac and Google features like Mail, Pages, Calendar, and more. :rolleyes:
But how about this for perspective: it only costs about $55 to join AND renew the .Mac service. Happily, Apple lets us use the serial numbers that come in any .Mac retail box, like the ones we buy at places we find at froogle.google.com et. al. I've joined and renewed at this price. We can even use these numbers to join at the end of a .Mac Trial. Makes .Mac seem twice worthwhile, donnit? ;)

Well you talk about fairness, I don't think its fair that your studies are funded by the government and mine are not, even though I will be working directly for the government in the very near future. And, its not fair to me that you may very well benefit directly from my work in several ways. For example, say you come to America for a holiday, and you are mugged. It would be my job to help get the guy responsible for your mugging and to be able to put you back to your position before you were mugged, at no cost to you because you are not an American citizen and don't pay taxes. So, I feel toat you owe me money because that would be fair. I know i'm making money as an attorney, but so is Loren on the many, many other projects he has going on for him. Its only fair that we are both compensated justly for everything we do, right? Just like you would want to be compensated by me if I came to your country and needed medical help, it would be nothing out of my pocket, and that doesn't seem fair to you personally doing something without just compensation.
My point is, each of us has our own lives to support, because really when it comes down to it, no one else is giving us a free ride...well except for you and thats not really fair. Well then to educate you, in America, no one gets a free ride. We're all for ourselves here, and then we have to pay taxes up the ass for the people on welfare who mooch off of the welfare system without really doing anything. No ones gonna help me with my law school loans even though the work I am doing will benefit many, many people. I will get a small government salary (criminal prosecutors do not make a lot of money at all, thats why so many attorneys try to go to private practices and big law firms, to make that 6 or 7 figure income). Does that seem fair? No.
Loren is gonna be ok, whether he had charged for Tweetie 2 or not. He has many other things going on, many other products, and he gets paid for those lectures he does. The guys who created youtube didn't charge people to access the videos hosted on their site for free, or charge people each time they updated their servers and software, yet they are rolling in the dough. In America, we thrive on customer satisfaction. I personally do not feel Loren did enough with Tweetie 1 in satisfying his customers before going ahead and charging full price for an "update." And his excuse that Apple didn't provide an upgrade path is a cop out. I read his tweet on the decision; he did it because he "had the balls to do it." He should at least go back to Tweetie 1 and upgrade that as much as possible until he can't anymore. He stated that he wanted to do things to Tweetie that were impossible to do without rewriting the app from scratch. Thats fine, but you can't leave your old customers out in the cold like he did. People paid for Tweetie 1 without knowing that Loren would be pulling this stunt off. Thats not fair to them, they deserve to be satisfied, they paid a fair amount and got ditched, bamboozled, baited and switched. If he wants to justify charging again, then he needs to go back to Tweetie 1 and fix it up as much as possible to satisfy everyone. THAT would be fair. I really hope he sees this too. Hi, I have had this constant black screen on my iTunes store page on iTunes. Everything else is fine but the store page, I have tried re-installing iTunes and yet still the problem persists. Anyone know how to get change it back?

Yeah, that's what came with mine - its the same as what came with all the previous socket 1156 CPUs by the look of it.
I think some of the early review samples did come with a better cooler - a tower cooler like the one from the hexacore 1366 CPUs. It's a shame they didn't continue to supply them with the k series as standard.
Anyway, good luck with the overclock. That CM cooler should be plenty good enough.
