You don't pay for updates, Tweetie 1 had 7 free updates. Updates within the 2.0 version number will also be free. Same as EVERY piece of software for the desktop.
exactly - people don't realize this yet with iphone apps because it's still relatively new and most apps get minor updates for free - very few have done a complete version revision of their software. probably over the next year, this will become more common and people will figure this out and quite whining.
but then again...people love to complain...but over $3 - seriously come on people...

because they don't sell their own software, Apple Tv's, iPods, and iPhones. The other computer companies have to generate revenue other than just computers.

Virus protection? Useful perhaps, what with all the viruses on Macs now-a-days.
I'm sure a lot (if not most) users of the .mac webmail interface are accessing it from a Windows PC. So yes, virus protection makes a lot of sense here.

That's not how civilization works. What happens is that a superior country will immigrate people from external inferior lands where necessary. Much, as you can imagine, to take over the "low end" jobs to support the "high end" workers. An early version of this is known as "slavery". Today, we just give immigrants low wages and more "freedom" albeit they still mop the floor so the CEO doesn't slip.
It's also consistent with the idea of importing "strong slaves". Those migrant workers are often the hard workers and upper teir of thier former civilization. Because...those are the ones who make the trip and are productive enough to be allowed to stay without being weeded out.
Later, when these "strong slaves" reproduce, it provides the country with strong genetic stock for future workers, whom some will break away from the lower classes. It doesn't matter if they are not part of the "2.1 whites". As a matter of fact, many 2.1 white rednecks trickle to the lower classes, just as super strong immigrates get to invent some of our greatest weapons.
Furthurmore, as technology advances, "manpower" is compensated by "brainpower". Before the steam engine cycle was invented, it would take like 100 slaves to get the boat of wheat accross the ocean. Now it takes maybe one or a couple of engineers...to play cards...until something breaks.

My time Capsule is full of old accounts and computers and I want to backup my macbook pro but don't know the best way to go about it. I run a small business network and the time capsule backs up 3 iMacs and one mac mini.
My mbp has a new harddrive and new profile (ie the home folder's name has been changed) but a lot of old data on the TC is the same as the mbp - so I don't want to delete it.
Can anyone advise please? Don't want to make a mistake that proves foolish later.

M-Audio sonica when I'm using speakers and whatever is built into my Logitech USB headset.
As a premium choice, I would be using an M-Audio Audiophile card, internal or external, as it seems to be the best of the bunch available for Macs.

Apple/we should just ask for DVD-Video burning rights in exchange for limiting the number of iPods you can play a movie on. Be a fair trade, in my book. I'd use the iTMS store for movies if they did that. The ability to burn to regular CDs is what keeps me in the iTMS (I have some sort of legal, unrestricted backup right), and I don't think I am alone in this way of thought.

When you take forever to get the phone on VZW you should expect people to take their time switching.
First, you've let Android have all that time to get a following because it's the only alternative for the lack of an iPhone. Those people have also bought apps that they now enjoy and would have to re-purchase on the iPhone. This happens with video game systems as well.
Second, people are in 2yr contracts. There are very few people who are willing to pay more for a phone they can buy 4 months later at half price on top of the termination fee.
Third, not that many people hate AT&T it's just the handful of VZW fans that make it look that way.
And finally you have the reporting and reviews. All the reports I saw were telling VZW people and potential switchers to hold off on getting the iPhone 4. No 4G, no white and still had the questionable signal issues. The "iPhone 5" was supposed to come out mid to late summer so people were concerned Apple would sell them a phone and then jump up 6 months later with the newer, thiner, better version and leave folks hanging.
People are paying attention to these reports and that's why I feel the numbers were low.

But there are many many reasons they would have a problem with that. The most predominant reason would probably be... Dare I say it... Religion.
Religion doesn't even have to be a factor. Perhaps parents see the ideal of only having sex with one person in your entire life, of keeping sex as a complete giving of yourself reserved for the one man or woman you want to spend the rest of your life with. Perhaps parents see that hormones are not the best thing to follow and that relieving physical desires might have more emotional or psychological effects than a teenager would realize. Parents have the advantage of not being influenced by the hormones that teenagers have and can think rationally about the situation. Just because you're 18 doesn't mean that you know what's best for yourself and perhaps your parents can impart on you their experience.
I mean, if a person is an adult at 18, at the age of 18, you have absolutely no experience at being an adult. Being 18 doesn't mean you have 18 years of experience under your belt. Being 18 means you are learning to be able to make your own decisions now and should ask the advice of those who are older than you and had the chance to live more.
