Milo helped me find 2 iPads at a Best Buy in my local area. Unfortunately, the site has shown 'sold out' everywhere for the last few days.
That's because Best Buy stopped showing iPad 2 availability online a few weeks ago (and Milo requires this), because they are currently trying to fill their backlog of orders and reservations with every iPad they get. They stopped taking orders at the same time. Once they fulfill all their orders and start having stock, I'm sure they will switch the future back on, that let's you check local inventory.
On a side note, I went to an Apple store in Indianapolis, at 9:30am at the end of last week and there were about 150+ people in line. I didn't realize they were still opening the store an hour early every day to sell the iPads they had received in the previous day. I wonder how long this will go on for.

Do those in the anti-piracy camp have major issues with someone who pirates Adobe products, but doesn't "profit" from them?....i.e doesn't make even enough money to cover the costs of the original products or even makes zero dollars?
Yes. It's stealing, download a trial version and if you like it buy it. If not go get a cheaper solution elsewhere.
I give it one more year, and Adobe's products will be entirely replaceable by App store Apps that will be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. Developers will be making their money, the apps will be cheap enough that piracy won't be as big of an issue, and everyone will be happy (except Adobe....and those heavily invested into their software model, and business).

I don't know if I should give this a postive or negative. Either way, I hate Microsoft.

In a way he is right. why bother writing a iPhone app if you can do the same job with a web based app? If it is web based it runs on any phone and there is no risk of rejection by Apple.
That is the worst part and the biggest reason why no one puts to much effort into iPhone Apps: Risk. How would want to put much effort into anything if it could be rejected for any random reason?

I think if you asked most of the population, the vast majority would find it 100% reasonable and appropriate that any retail company, in any business sector, decides what they will or won't sell in their store - be it WalMart, The Gap, Starbucks, or your local corner grocery store. Apples retail store is just that... a retail store --- and the norms of business retail don't go away, to be replaced by a magical la-la land where people get to do whatever they want.

Where does this guidance come from? Who says the Bible must be interpreted in that way? It seems in a book as complex as the Bible there must be 100s of ways to view it.
I'm not suggesting the Bible is bad, nor am I suggesting it is good. I'm saying that the Bible is neutral- it can be interpreted in a way that leads to kindness and charity or in a way that leads to hatred and intolerance.
I don't know statistics on this, but I'm very confident that the majority of Christians are "good" people. However, there are some "bad" ones as well. The Westboro Baptist Church comes to mind! Whilst the WBC holds a despicable view, who is to say their interpretation is less well founded?

However, I can't agree that the Bible is "neutral" or relative in that it can correctly be interpreted in any way someone chooses. The Bible is clear in it's express purpose as God's revelation of himself to mankind. The Bible is judged and interpreted against itself using the literary and textual tools of interpretation that we have available to us.
Like all communication it can only be correctly interpreted in light of the intended meaning of it's original author. This is where faith comes into the process. Followers of Christ hold to the belief that it is God's inspired and inerrant word. The living God is it's author and he inspired men to write within their own historical and literary context to specific audiences at a specific time. All of these contexts become clues that help guide us to His intended meaning.
Is it complex and hard to understand, sure, but it's theme is consistent and without contradiction. That's why I can easily say that Westboro Baptist's Church's interpretation and resulting actions are not biblicaly grounded. God's word calls us to "love one another" and to be servant leaders in bearing one another's burdens. Westboro seeks to judge, spread hate, and cause dissension. Sure they quote scripture and hide behind an illusion of faith, but they take verses out of context and aren't living out God's commands. They remind me of the Pharisees in scripture towards whom Jesus was extremely harsh because of their duplicitous nature.
I know this is hard to grasp. One way I try to simplify it for people is to say that any given portion of scripture has one correct interpretation, but various forms of application. This is why you hear people of faith say it is God's living word. I can read a portion of scripture today and it will impact me in one way. When I reread that section later next month, next year, etc. it might impact me in an entirely different way based on how I apply it to my life at the time. The underlying truth and the intended meaning have not changed, but how I've applied it to my present circumstances has.
As I said before, it's nothing personal, and I didn't think that you believed the Bible was evil. But, the misconceptions you present are common to many and the thought that Scripture is neutral or relative is not only incorrect, but more dangerous as it opens the door wide to allow for further incorrect interpretation and prooftexting.

Apple also doesn't have to sell their products in every store. I am sure Apple could say that they couldn't do that if they want to continue selling the iPad 2. I'd be very surprised if Apple knew about this and allowed it.
My guess is that since managers are pressuring the sales staff to sell the add-ons so hard, that they are just saying its required.
Working in a retail shop (photo goods); I can say that margins on hard goods is so razor thin, requiring ad-ons makes sense. It also keeps scalpers away for the likes of the iPad 2.

Interesting.....powerbooks and ibooks sold through this month but not the batteries in the Macbook or Macbook Pro....I'm thinking the newer batteries (for MBP and MB) are OK because they use Li-Poly cells instead of Li-Ion.

I'm a bit confused. How exactly does the context of the Old Testament point to a triune god? I've done a lot of academic study of the Tanakh in general, and Second Temple Judaism in particular, and I'm at a loss to where in Jewish orthodoxy the idea of a triune god exists.

What I'm trying to say is that the information presented on the web page that I referenced points to contextual clues that would require one to know the Hebrew language to understand. Additionally, understanding Hebrew history in terms of traditional beliefs and culture is also beneficial when understanding the connections between the old and new testament and hence the old and new covenant. We believe that Christ fulfilled the prophecies of the old testament.
I didn't mean to imply that traditional Jewish belief supports the concept of the trinity. Obviously, it does not as they interpret the old testament as a stand alone without the revelation of the new testament.
I didn't intend to be confusing, just to point out that simply reading the old testament on its own in a modern translation might not bring out all of the nuances that are there in the original language and context.

I think you can control when the data gets backed up, and it would be good if you could delete versions after a certain time. They must have the scenarios worked out, otherwise for my 40GB iBook HD and 80GB LaCie external drive, I'd need about a TB * to be able to go back in time for the year of changes.

euro apple stores have been @ 3 days for quite sometime... france & germany @ least... the education institution has been @ 3-5 (5-7 days for blackbooks) for a couple weeks now too...
i too think soon, and not today... i usually wake up around 7:30 - 7:45am (cupertino time) and when i woke up last when MBP were updated it was alrdy on the wepage

As I've heard from those who've actually used Vista, Aero is the only reason to install it (thus far at least). Home Basic does not include Aero.
Assuming my Windows-using companions are correct, Home Basic thusly has nothing to offer. Hence, it is crap.

Seems to have solved my Macbook shutdown problem. It used to shut down 4-5 times a day.. since I applied the patch.. it hasn't shut down since the last 5 hours. It's also very quiet.. it was always quiet but sometimes the fans would kick in.. now I hear nothing.
Quite pleased that Apple takes notice and figures out solutions rather quickly.

Surely Hard Drive players are on the way out in general? Must be a major reason for the devices to break.

I'm not sure many would agree with you on that. Apple has always been a hardware company. Just because their software drives their hardware doesn't mean they are software focused. If they were primarily a software company, they would have gone the way of Microsoft and put out MacOS to run on any generic PC box. But we all know their take on that. Just to drive my point home, when was the last time Apple released a piece of software that people went nuts about and stood in lines for hours to get?

My standard music library (excluding spoken word, audio books) is around 72GB and growing. I want to have this in one simple library, available for streaming, playing in my car, taking with me when travelling etc. Split libraries are a pain to use, administer and load.
The iPod touch is too expensive for a simple music player and does lots of things I just don't need, since I have iPhones and an iPad to fulfil those functions. The iPod Classic is ideal. I do get annoyed with the incompatibility of the various versions with connecting devices, where some need version 5, 5.5 or 6 etc, as Apple has updated the Codex. it would have been nice to have built in backwards compatibility into docks etc but I suppose Apple want us to continue to buy new iPods. I would be happy if Apple made an improved iPod classic with higher quality storage and output (maybe optical like my old iRiver used to have and Macs and Airport Expresses have). I have just bought another 120GB Classic just in case they go out of production.

As for the voice command thing - I don't really care. It's not like it takes that long to press an icon, although it might help some in the cold wiinter when I have gloves on.
