I got an RFE (first time) for my 485 and my lawyer responded (sent it through post) on August, 9th, 2010. I am wondering, how long USCIS takes to update the status online? I just want to make sure USCIS received my RFE, that�s all I care.

President Obama will send up to 1,200 National Guard troops to the Southwest border and increase spending on law enforcement, yielding to demands from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers there that border security be tightened, administration officials said.
That was the opening of an article in the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/26/us/26border.html?partner=rss&emc=rss). Here are additional excerpts:
Homeland Security officials said that the troops would provide support to law enforcement officers already working along the border by helping observe and monitor traffic between official crossing points, and would help analyze trafficking patterns in hopes of intercepting illegal drug shipments. They performed similar tasks in an earlier deployment along the border from 2006 to 2008, when they also assisted with road and fence construction. The troops have not been involved directly in intercepting border crossers.
In addition to the soldiers, the White House said it would request $500 million in supplemental funds to pay for more federal agents, prosecutors, investigators and technology at the border.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, a former governor of Arizona, said last month that the border was “as secure now as it has ever been,” though she conceded there was room for improvement. If you're interested in creating 'Action Items' of your own - join the State Chapters, share your ideas with other members and chapter leaders. If there's enough support for it in the group, chapter leaders will take it up with the Core. Once sanctioned by the core, it will become a real 'Action Item' on IV.
Lets follow this process, for the benefit of all and to avoid confusions.

Mine got approved in about 2 months time. My labor certificate reached the lawyer who passed it on to my employer.
I did a big mistake of not asking for a copy and again when I received it while filing I140 - did not make a copy again.
Please save a copy for yourself - it helps a lot while switching jobs during AC21.

My employer had sent my H-1 application in May first week, but he didn't even receive the EAC number till last week. So, he re-filed my H-1, this time by premium processing and its been a week, and still no EAC number. Is anyone having the same delays as me? If so, is there any way to contact someone or get the status of my application? Looking for an urgent response. Thanks,

As a service to our readers we publish local ceremony dates. If USCIS approves your application for naturalization, you must attend a ceremony and take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States. USCIS will notify you by mail of the time and date of your ceremony.
The notice USCIS sends you is called the "Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony" (Form N-445). In some cases, USCIS may give you the option to take the Oath on the same day as your interview. If you decide to take a "same day" oath, USCIS will ask you to come back to the office later that day. At this time, you will take the Oath and receive your Certificate of Naturalization.
If you cannot go to the oath ceremony, you should return the "Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony" (Form N-445) that USCIS sent to you. You should send the N-445 back to your local office. Include a letter saying why you cannot go to the ceremony. Make a copy of the notice and your letter before you send them to USCIS.
