I have filed my H1B extension on November as my H1B is expiring on 23rd Feb.
I haven't got my approval yet. I have currently EAD and my I140 approved.
My question is if I don't get my approval on or before 23rd Feb what will happen to my status?
My Lawyer said once you filed you have 140 days (or 160 days forgot) for approval meaning even if it does not get approved on or before I will be on H1B till I complete 140 days from date of filling.
Please advise.
Since you have already applied for your extension & I think you should be fine until 240 days beyond your current H1 expiry date. I filed my H1(8th year) ext on Oct 21st, 2007 and got my approval notice via mail directly to my employer on Jan 31st. Useless online status still shows "Case received and pending"...:D

I am a little confused. I just got my H1B extension done recently and my attorney sent me a letter saying that if I go out of the country for stamping I need to make sure my Passport is valid beyond the H1B period.
My passport expires in May 2008 and my current H1 is valid till July 2010. Does anyone see any issues in going for stamping in India in July 2007 with my current passport and later on some time next year applying for a new Indian passport.

Your passport should be valid atleast 6 months from the date of stamping. So I think you should be okay. Also, its better to apply for a new passport 6 months before your old one expires. And once you get your new passport you'll have to carry both your new and the old ones as your old one will have the stamping till July 2010. Hope this helps!

a couple of comments. i agree with el hacko and jliechty that the front strawberry should be the one in focus. the ones that are in focus are not special and you can't see the entire berry so there is no compelling reason to focus on them. at least the one in the front is whole and big.
you might also want to 'soften' the light and eliminate the hot spots (overexposed) that are on the fruit. there should be more pretty color where you see white. you can use bounce flash or a diffuser to accomplish this and still get the bright look.
adding more attractive texture to the strawberries might be accomplished with some water droplets, especially on the leaves which look kind of dry.
food photography is one of the hardest disciplines but you're doing a great job.

Hi all,
My wife has MSc in Comp and has work experience of 2 yrs as a programmer in India. She came last year on F2 and applied for H1 this year but She didn't get selected in the lottery. Someone told her that she can apply for jobs in universities and they do H1 (no cap).
Can someone tell us that this is true? and also suggest us where else can she try looking for jobs? Are all the Not-for-Profit organizations same in terms of doing H1 (no cap)?
I appreciate any suggestions and thanks in advance.

If you are a IV member living in NY and want to be actively engaged in the NY chapter activities, please send a PM to bottlemani. If all those in NY get together, it will be easier to plan joint visits to congress people: house members and senators. Even if you don't have a car, we will be able to coordinate better if we know you are willing to spare some time.

That's the most surprising part:-).
Probably they need to validate my H4(my current status in US) based on his
H1 validity.
But thank God,my woes r over now,as I got my approval today.

It is direct deposit / stub, but company name does not show anywhere and I spoke with employees that have been there over a year and they say that is also how the W2 is printed. Company name does not show.

There is tons of info on IV's Forums itself. But I think here are key things you might think about :
Same / similar Job desc and Title. Most companies would do some thing like change duties to fit your needs i would make sure of this to be on safe side and also base NOC code as in GC labor. Min things to be considered to be safe. Check with your attorney we all post only what we might see which might not be 100% certain always ...
I had AOS though company A and holding my H1 which is expire in July 2010.
I was interviewed by financial client B for contract to hire postion. I already joining them on 31st March as consultant and at after 2 months end need to convert in fulltime. This job attracts me because of never thinked pay scale and benifits in my life. Company B has record that no one leave them in last 9 years. Or never they lay off anyone.
I told client B that I can work on EAD but HR Manager wants me to transfer my H1 in company B.
JOB work is not same, My AOS based on server administartor and in financial client I am goign to do desktop management.
Is this something right approch to transfer h1b? Will company A can create any problem for my GC process? I already passed 180 days for pending AOS. Another thing is my wife has already used her EAD from h1 and working as fulltime. she is my derivative applicant.

F1 means International Student and so you are not California Resident for tuition purpose (UCs, CSUs and any state funded institution e.g. community colleges follow this practice).
Private institutions don't care, usually fee is same.
For taxation purpose, you are resident of CA and will be paying taxes on earnings.

Does it mean that if she graduates before the I-485 is approved, she cannot work? Or can she accept employment on the green card EAD even though the I-140/I-485 are pending. What will be her status during that period?

There are websites that the US consulates maintain listing the case numbers with their status. I am currently waiting for my H-1B visa petition decision in hyderabad. Below is the link the website maintained by the US consulate in hydererabad. There are similar websites for other US consulates in India

YOu might have already tried this - pls try emailing any school association there (Indian Students Association) - that might turn up good contacts. They are a couple of good universities out there like Chapel Hill...

It depends on which USCIS district you are applying from... but all in all these days between 3-6 months from applying to taking oath. Times for military personnel might vary.
Your country of birth/current citizenship has no bearing on times (unlike for Green Card)
Go here and check the service center closest for N-400 timelines: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplay.do;jsessionid=bac585
Note: These timelines do no include time for taking oath.

HOW can I get US Citizenship Fastest ? AND HOW LONG, friends, does it take to get your family here as a dependent of a US Citizen
